Figuring out your options for returning items to Walmart Vision Center depends on two things–what kind of item you’d like to return and how long ago you purchased your item.
When you purchase prescription glasses through Walmart Vision Center, you have 60 days to return your glasses for a full refund. If your prescription is updated within 60 days of purchasing your glasses, you can also have your Walmart lenses replaced free of charge.
Keep in mind that in order to qualify for a refund on a full pair of glasses, your glasses must be free of any damage or obvious wear and tear. If your glasses are damaged or scratched in any way, you may still be able to have them replaced, but you will not qualify for a refund.
When it comes to contact lenses, Walmart’s return policy is a bit different. For any contact lenses purchased through Walmart Vision Center or WalmartContacts.com, customers have a full year (365 days) to return unopened lenses. If your contact lenses have been opened but are defective, they can be returned within 30 days of purchase.
Here’s what Walmart Contacts has to say about their 365-day contacts return policy:
Walmart Contacts wants you to shop with confidence. We offer a 365-day no-questions return policy on all unopened products. If you are unhappy for any reason, simply return all products in their original packages and we will exchange the product, or refund all charges (except shipping) at your option.

How To Return An Item To Walmart Vision Center
Returning optical products to Walmart can happen in a few different ways depending on how and where you purchased your items and which items you’d like to return. For example, returning glasses requires a different process than returning contact lenses.
Keep reading to find out how to return items to Walmart Vision Center, whether you’re doing it online or in person.
Returning An Item In Store
To return an item to a Walmart Vision Center in person:
- Bring your item, including all of its original packaging and your purchase receipt to any Walmart or Walmart Vision Center location
- Let an employee at the Vision Center counter or the customer service desk know that you would like to request a return
- The employee will walk you through the rest of the returns process
In-store returns can be requested for any item, whether it was purchased in person or online. Prescription glasses and contact lenses can both be returned this way.
Returning An Item Online
To return a pair of prescription glasses online through Walmart.com:
- View your online purchase history inside your Walmart.com account
- Find the order containing the item you’d like to return
- Click on the order and select the “return” option
- Follow the prompts on the screen to receive a prepaid shipping label
- Print your label, package your glasses in their original packaging, and ship the package to the address provided on your label
Please note that items purchased in store cannot be returned through the online returns process.
The one caveat to returning optical products online is that contact lenses purchased through WalmartContacts.com must be returned through a slightly different process.
To return a pair of Walmart contact lenses through the mail:
- Contact Walmart Contacts’ Customer Service Team to request a return shipping label.
- Next, you’ll receive an email with a link to print the shipping label (you can also request a pre-printed label in the mail when you speak to the customer service team). Labels are marked with a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number (please note that items without an RMA number will not be eligible for return).
- Finally, package your item (ideally in its original box), put the label on, and mail it to:
Walmart
Attn: Contact Lens Returns
RMA#: (write your RMA number here)
2250 International Street
Columbus, OH 43228-3834
Note: Returns requested online take longer to process. When and if you receive a refund will depend on Walmart’s determination as well as on variable shipping and processing times.
Returning Items Without A Receipt
Generally speaking, Walmart’s return policy states that customers are required to provide proof of purchase for all returns. However, this part of the policy isn’t as strict as it might seem.
Under their standard return policy, receipts are requested but not required for returns and exchanges to be approved. As long as you can provide a valid, government-issued ID, then you will still be eligible for a refund even if you don’t have a receipt. However, the store manager or supervisor has full discretion when it comes to granting you your refund.
So, there’s no guarantee your return will be approved, regardless of whether or not you have a receipt. Also keep in mind that items purchased online are technically never without a receipt since you can always look up these items in your online purchase history.
Free Returns and Exchanges?
Whenever you request a refund or exchange at Walmart, rest assured that you will never have to pay extra for this service. Even when you return items through the mail, this service is completely free for the customer. Walmart covers all shipping costs for online returns and never charges restocking or return service fees.
Walmart Vision Center Customer Service
To contact Walmart Vision Center, you’ll first need to locate the specific center you’d like to reach, as Walmart Vision Center does not have a general customer service number.
To find a specific Walmart Vision Center, use the Walmart Store Locator tool, then call a Walmart store of your choice and ask to speak with the Vision Center. Keep in mind, though, that unless you contact the same Walmart Vision Center where you purchased your item, they may not be able to help you with your questions.
In that case, it’s best to contact Walmart’s general customer service department by calling 1-800-925-6278. They can help you with any questions you might have about requesting a return.
