Since you cannot cash your check at CVS, the only alternative is to use other retailers who offer check cashing services.
For example, you can cash your check at Walmart, which accepts various checks, including retirement, 401(k), payroll, cashier, government, tax refund, insurance, and more.
Walmart’s charges for check cashing services depend on the check amount. For example, you’ll pay $3 for checks up to $1000 and $6 for check amounts between $1000 and $5000.
Kroger also offers check cashing services at $3.50 for checks worth $2000 or less and $5.50 for those ranging from $2000 to $5000. You can cash business, tax refund, payroll, government, and insurance checks at Kroger.
Although quite expensive, Safeway offers government and payroll check cashing services at $2.25 for every $200.
If you’re a Wegman’s Shoppers Club cardholder, you can cash your travelers or personal checks for free but only up to $500. You can also cash rebate checks up to $20 in value.
